About Class

This course introduces learners to the fundamental concepts of factors, multiples, and prime numbers, which are essential for building a strong number sense. Learners will explore how to identify factors and multiples of whole numbers and understand their significance in solving mathematical problems. The course also introduces prime and composite numbers, helping learners distinguish between them and recognize patterns in numbers. Through engaging activities and practical examples, learners will develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in handling numbers—preparing them for more advanced topics such as fractions, divisibility rules, and algebra.

What Will You Learn?

  • Fractions and multiples are foundational in number sense, mathematical reasoning, and solving real-life problems.
  • Recognizing parts of a whole (fractions) and patterns in numbers (multiples) prepares learners for advanced topics like fractions operations, factors, LCM, and divisibility rules.

Class Content

Factors and multiples
In this lesson, learners explored the concepts of factors and multiples, which are fundamental in understanding numbers. Factors are numbers that divide another number exactly without leaving a remainder. For example, the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12. Multiples are numbers obtained by multiplying a given number by whole numbers. For example, the first five multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. Learners practiced identifying factors and multiples of different numbers, distinguishing between the two, and applying these concepts in simple problem-solving scenarios, such as arranging objects or dividing quantities evenly. By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to: Identify all factors of a number. List multiples of a number. Understand the relationship between factors and multiples. Apply the knowledge to solve basic real-life problems involving factors and multiples.
